Crewle & Pole

Crewles & Poles are third-level Nightmarens who work together as enemies in NiGHTS into Dreams. Crewle is supposedly the blue frog-like Nightmaren and Pole is the orange tadpole-like Nightmaren.

Physical Appearance

Crewle is a small humanoid blue frog with orange eyelids, a pointy nose and a green round torso. Pole is a big orange tadpole with blue eyes, long darkblue eyelashes, red clown-like cheeks and a long tail with yellow and cyan stripes.

NiGHTS into Dreams

Crewles & Poles can only be found in Mystic Forest. Once Claris enters the Nightopia, two Crewles & Poles will steal two of her ideyas. After Claris dualize with NiGHTS, the Crewles & Poles throughout the level will shoot small colorful orbs at NiGHTS which will not only shrink and slow them down for a limited time, but will also take five seconds from the timer.

Defeating a Crewle & Pole will add 200 points for the player's score.

Mepian

The Crewle & Pole Mepians have a blue head nearly identical to Crewle's with Pole's red clown-like cheeks, a round yellow torso referecing Pole, and Crewle's blue frog-like arms, legs, fingers and feet.

A Crewle & Pole Mepian egg has a triangular shape, and it is blue colored with some green spots and dark blue stripes.

Other Appearances

  • Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams: Crewle & Pole's render appears in the concept art.
  • NiGHTS Flying Through the Sky Without Wings: Only Crewle makes a small appearance in the NiGHTS Storybook, in a page where NiGHTS is paralooping Nightmarens, including Crewle itself. In the book, Crewle was recelored purple, and is much bigger than how it appears in the games.
  • Sonic Pinball Party: Crewles & Poles appear in the Mystic Forest table as enemies. Defeating a Crewle & Pole adds 200 points to the score.

Trivia

  • "Crewle" is an obvious play on the word "cruel", and "Pole" is short for "tadpole" in reference to Pole's resemblence to a tadpole.
  • Since Crewles need Poles to fly, it's safe to assume that they can't fly by themselves. This makes Crewles one of the four Nightmarens who lack the ability of flight, the other three being Queen BellaGoodles and Bomamba's cat minions.
  • By inspecting the game files and placing the NiGHTS into Dreams third level Nightmarens models side by side, it is revealed that Crewle is the biggest third level Nightmaren in the game.[1]
  • Crewles are the second smallest characters in the NiGHTS series, after Beezes from Journey of Dreams.
  • Pole is one of the two third level Nightmarens from NiGHTS into Dreams who didn't appear in the NiGHTS Storybook, the other is Gao.
