Octopaw is a minor character in NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams. He is a rare cowardly octopus-like creature from Nightopia who NiGHTS likes to play with.

Physical Appearance[]
Octopaw is a blue octopus with an enormous head with three pink spots, blue eyes, yellow wings on his back and six small tentacles.
Personality[]
Octopaw is described by NiGHTS in Aqua Garden as being a "scaredy-cat". He appears to like being hidden from Nightmarens inside jars and rarely comes out. Even though Octopaw is very coward, it is possible that he knows that NiGHTS isn't a threat to him, as in the cutscenes prior Delight City and Memory Forest's Link Challange, Octopaw looked at NiGHTS when he heard them, but didn't appear to get scared at all and simply continued flying.

History[]
NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams[]
Octopaw appears in all of the levels from Journey of Dreams but Bellbridge, during the Link Challenge missions.
When the mission starts, Octopaw will run away from NiGHTS, leaving a trail of rings behind for them to pass through. Sometimes, Octopaw will shoot ink, obscuring the rings he left behind.
To succeed in the mission, the player must make the amount of links requested; in both Pure Valley and Aqua Garden, the amount of links is 25 or more, in Lost Park and Crystal Castle, it is 30 or more and in Delight City and Memory Forest, it is 35 or more.
The player has five chances to succeed in the mission. Falling in all of them will result in a game over screen.
Octopaw's theme is called "Catch me if you can!".

Trivia[]
- The Link Challange missions will automatically end and a rank A will be awarded to the player if they manage to make 999 links, even in one go.[1]
- Concept arts reveal that a Pink Octopaw was planned for the game, but was scrapped.
- Octopaw is the only NiGHTS character who is based on a sea animal and is not a Nightmaren.
