Sonic the Hedgehog (ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ, Sonikku za Hejjihoggu) is a supersonic hedgehog that can move faster than the speed of sound and the main protagonist of the Sonic series as well as Sega's mascot.
He is 15 years old, stands at 100 centimeters (3 ft 3 in), weighs 35 kilograms (77 lbs) and was born on Christmas Island. Artist Naoto Ohshima, designer Hirokazu Yasuhara and programmer Yuji Naka are generally credited with the creation of the character.

NiGHTS into Dreams[]
In NiGHTS into Dreams, there's a score board in every level with the name of Sonic characters. With 20.000 points in every level, Sonic appears in first place in all of the score boards.
Concept arts also reveal that Claris has a Sonic plush in her bedroom, though it never appears in the game.
Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams[]
Sonic appears in the mini game Sonic the Hedgehog into Dreams... in Christmas NiGHTS into Dreams. In this mini game, the player controls Sonic, who must collect the four Ideyas in the Christmas NiGHTS version of Spring Valley. After doing it, the player will fight against Doctor Eggman parodying Puffy.
Sonic controls exactly like Elliot Edwards and Claris Sinclair (except he can only run and jump due to being unable to Dualize for some reason) with no fear of a time limit or Alarm Egg. Oddly enough, The mini game did not return to none of the HD remasters of the game.
NiGHTS Archie Comics[]
Sonic makes two cameos in the NiGHTS Archie Comics. In the third issue, there's a Sonic poster on Elliot's bedroom, along with a Knuckles the Echidna and an Akira Yuki poster. In the fourth issue, Elliot has a Nightmare where he appears wearing a pink underwear with Sonic faces in front of Claris.

- NiGHTS' Drill Dash attack is similar to Sonic's Spin Dash attack.
- The Red Ideya is similar to the Chaos Emeralds, as both are sources of tremendous powers for their game's respective protagonists.
- The Dash Ball is similar to the Dash Panels, as both are gimmicks that boost NiGHTS and Sonic.
- Shadow the Hedgehog is similar to Reala, as both are a red and black rival of their game's respective protagonists.
- The Chaos were based after the Nightopians, both design and concept wise.
- Black Doom, the main antagonist from the game Shadow the Hedgehog, was designed after Wizeman.

- NiGHTS has made so many appearances in Sonic games to the point where some people believe he is actually a minor Sonic character.
